[noaaport] 2025 NSF Unidata Community Survey: Help us help you!

Greetings NOAAPORT Data folks!

NSF Unidata Program recently experienced a funding gap as a result of a funding freeze by the U.S. National Science Foundation. While we are happy to report that NSF has released our current funding increment to allow us to resume our operations, we are mindful of the challenges that lie ahead.

As we begin to plan for a future in which funders have fewer resources at their disposal, it is critically important we understand the needs and interests of the broad Earth Systems Science community to allow us to deploy our own resources in service of the community.

The 2025 NSF Unidata Community Survey is in progress, and we are seeking your help -- both by taking the survey yourself (if you have not done so
already) and in sharing the survey with members of your own networks to help us capture additional critical insights and broaden our reach.

The survey is brief and anonymous, and will help NSF Unidata to gain a deeper understanding of the priorities, aspirations, and challenges community members and organizations are facing. This in turn will help us better align our tools and services to support the community and advance the Earth Systems Sciences.

Take the survey

The survey closes June 20, 2025. After submitting your responses, you will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for one of 10 NSF Unidata swag bags. Swag bags will include an NSF Unidata lunchbox and other items such as a hat, cup, pens, or stickers.

We would be very appreciative if you could share the request with the following via whatever forums, listservs, or other group messaging systems are used by your community.

Together, we can ensure that NSF Unidata’s offerings evolve to meet the changing needs of the Earth Systems Science community. Your insights
support community progress.

Thank you for being part of this important processyour continued support of NSF Unidataand your help in shaping our future!

Cheers,
Jennifer
