Hi Andy, > Firstly, let me know if this is the right place to ask this. This is the right place to ask. Your 4.3.3.1 installation of the netCDF-C library looks fine. You now need to build the netCDF-Fortran 4.4.2 library, which is a separate package that depends on having the netCDF-C library already installed. Here are the instructions: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/netcdf/docs/building_netcdf_fortran.html You can get the latest netCDF-Fortran distribution from here: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/downloads/netcdf/ Let us know if you run into any problems ... --Russ > I'm installing wavewatchIII and some executables require netcdf4 format. > > A previous version of NetCDF4 I have used (built by my IT admin, Andy > Heaps) is > jasmin1$ nc-config --all > > This netCDF 4.3.1.1 has been built with the following features: > > --cc -> gcc > --cflags -> -I/opt/tools/netcdf_gnu/include > -I/opt/tools/netcdf_gnu/include > --libs -> -L/opt/tools/netcdf_gnu/lib -lnetcdf > > --has-c++ -> no > --cxx -> > --has-c++4 -> yes > --cxx4 -> g++ > > --fc -> gfortran > --fflags -> -g -O2 -I/opt/tools/netcdf_gnu/include > --flibs -> -L/opt/tools/netcdf_gnu/lib -lnetcdff -lnetcdf -lnetcdf > --has-f90 -> yes > > --has-dap -> no > --has-nc2 -> yes > --has-nc4 -> yes > --has-hdf5 -> yes > --has-hdf4 -> no > --has-pnetcdf-> no > > --prefix -> /opt/tools/netcdf_gnu > --includedir-> /opt/tools/netcdf_gnu/include > --version -> netCDF 4.3.1.1 > > whereas, the version I have built looks like: > > --cc -> gcc > --cflags -> -I/hpcdata/berlrh/local/include > -I/hpcdata/berlrh/local/include > --libs -> -L/hpcdata/berlrh/local/lib -lnetcdf > > --has-c++ -> no > --cxx -> > --has-c++4 -> no > --cxx4 -> > > --fc -> > --fflags -> > --flibs -> > --has-f90 -> no > > --has-dap -> no > --has-nc2 -> yes > --has-nc4 -> yes > --has-hdf5 -> yes > --has-hdf4 -> no > --has-pnetcdf-> no > > --prefix -> /hpcdata/berlrh/local > --includedir-> /hpcdata/berlrh/local/include > --version -> netCDF 4.3.3.1 > > I can't seem to set the gfortran compiler up with this build? > Is it a matter of setting environmental variables and/or switches with > configure to pick this up? > > Please let me know if you require anymore information. > > Regards, > Ray > > -- > ------------------------------------- > Dr. Ray Bell > Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate with BP, > Department of Meteorology, > University of Reading, > Earley Gate, Reading, RG6 6BB > e-mail: address@hidden > web: http://www.met.reading.ac.uk/~pn905388/ > ------------------------------------- > > > Russ Rew UCAR Unidata Program address@hidden http://www.unidata.ucar.edu Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: NPJ-248193 Department: Support netCDF Priority: Normal Status: Closed
