[netCDF #QDS-549592]: Configure Patch

Sorry, but I can't quite figure out what the problem is that we are trying to 
fix.

Can you try the latest beta release and see how it works for you:
ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-4.1.2-beta1.tar.gz

But I will not get back to you for a month - I'm going on vacation tomorrow!
