Hi Mason, If you disable the AR from the preferences, the IDV will keep it until you changing it back. But you obviously experienced some performance hit without AR. The AP and weighted average are not tightly related and the grey box is likely the difference between your data range and the system default range for this variable. You should be able to change the range of contour in the control panel. In the IDV, if you select Tools > Parameter Defaults Editor, you will see the default range of common used parameters which is used in the rendering. This table is combined with the Parameter Alias table, and both table can be overwritten by User defaults. Well, you can see the IDV is a powerful tool and a bit complicated.
