Barry, I asked below what was the result of issuing (from the Terminal) java -version (there's a typo below) before opening the Installer.app What was the result of that? We install the IDV on OS X all the time so something unusual is happening here. Not sure what it is yet. I also wonder if there is something in your Java preferences that is blocking Java somehow.
