Hi there, > I recently installed Unidata AWIPS 2 to run on my personal laptop and it is > working fine. However, > I had previously installed Python ver. 3.9 prior to that and the program that > uses that version > does not run. What kind OS does your laptop run? I'm guessing Windows? > A colleague has suggested that I run Anaconda which will allow both AWIPS 2 > and my program to run. > He is familiar with the setup issues to get it working. Did you follow our installation instructions from our website here (assuming Windows): http://unidata.github.io/awips2/install/install-cave/#method-2-direct-windows-install' > I want to know if Unidata AWIPS 2 will still function with Anaconda > installed? Is there any > experience with these programs running together? If you followed the instructions from above, you did install Miniconda, which is a "trimmed-down" version of Anaconda. > Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. If you followed our instructions as well, then you set the PYTHONPATH and PYTHONHOME environment variables on your machine. If you were to remove these variables, then I believe your previous application that uses Python 3.9 will work. Alternatively, you may be able to create conda environments and possibly run the previous application inside that environment, without modifying your environment variables. I am not sure if miniconda comes with the anaconda terminal. But more information might be available on their website: https://docs.conda.io/projects/conda/en/latest/user-guide/tasks/manage-environments.html Please let me know if that helps at all.
