I guess I'm a little confused on what you are asking - are you talking about the viewing the SPC issued outlooks or are you creating your own outlooks? When you load the SPC Hail Outlook for example, the hatched area is the sig severe area, if there is one (see attached image). If you are using PGEN to create your own outlook, there is an option under the hail, wind, and tornado for "SIG" (see attached image). Does that help?
