Hello,
I'm afraid that netCDF 3.5.1 is a very old release, and does not appear to be
compatible with modern compilers. I observe the same failure even when using
F77=gfortran. I suspect you may need to update to the latest versions,
netCDF-C 4.6.1 and netCDF-Fortran 4.4.4. These are available from the Unidata
github pages, https://github.com/Unidata/netcdf-c/releases and
https://github.com/Unidata/netcdf-fortran/releases, respectively.
Thank you, have a great day,
-Ward
