ok, my environment is:
cygwin, java 1.8,
netCDF-C 4.4.1.1
    libhdf5: 1.8.17
    libcurl: 7.35.0
    zlib: 1.2.8
and I am running netcdf java from
the 5.0.0 github branch
using the IntelliJ IDE.
