[netCDF #VLI-717581]: Reporting build error for 4.4.1.1

Hi John,

This is the result of a logic error in the 4.4.1.1 release, which will be fixed 
in the upcoming release.  Replace `make check install` with `make && make check 
install` and everything should work for you.
