[netCDF #HHB-377746]: CDF 1.6

Ok, I see. You meant CF-1.6, not CDF-1.6.
The file format is netcdf-3 (also known as "classic").
I am not a MATLAB expert, but the fact that it
recognizes the CF-1.6 convention says it should
be able to process it. Unfortunately, if you have
MATLAB errors, then you will need to contact MATLAB
support. Sorry.
