[netCDF #TET-842292]: Poor NetCDF-4 parallel performance
- Subject: [netCDF #TET-842292]: Poor NetCDF-4 parallel performance
- Date: Mon, 25 Apr 2016 15:02:38 -0600
Hi Brian,
I apologize for the delayed response; I was out of the office last week. I
would have also sworn that I had sent a response to this question before, but I
cannot find a trace of it. My sincere apologies!
File I/O for netCDF 4 files are handled by the HDF5 library, libhdf5. Do you
know which version of hdf5 is being used? The latest supported version is
1.8.16; HDF5 1.10.0 was recently released, but we caution against using it, as
it will currently generate files that are not backwards compatible. The HDF
group also provides guidelines for maximizing parallel I/O performance for
libhdf5, viewable here:
* https://www.hdfgroup.org/HDF5/faq/parallel.html
I hope this is helpful/useful!
