[netCDF #TLO-836022]: group names that begin with numeric characters

Using your example file, this seems to be fixed in netCDF C versions after
4.3.1, including 4.3.1.1 released in Feb 2014 and 4.3.2 released in April
2014.  So I'll close this ticket unless I hear otherwise from you.
