[netCDF #EFC-320116]: libifport.so.5

Unfortunatly, the make log isn't complete enough for me to track this down. 
Could you do the following:

make distclean

run configure again

make >& make.out

This will allow you to capture the make output. Then, would you mind doing the 
same thing for make check:

make check >& makecheck.out
