You might try the 4.1.2-beta
(ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-4.1.2-beta1.tar.gz)
It should fix the first problem (gmake1-out),
but I do not know about the second. We unfortunately do not
have an AIX platform to test on currently.
