Howdy Olaf! This problem is caused by MPI. Sometimes (rarely) an MPI implementation will require that every program use MPI_Init/MPI_Finalize, even if no MPI calls are made in that program. Just ignore test output and install as usual. Also, you will want to try the just-release 4.1.2-beta1, which has considerable performance improvements for parallel I/O builds.
