Howdy! If you are doing anything with parallel I/O you want to get the latest beta release of netCDF-4.1.2, which has significant performance improvements. When building it, you must tell the netCDF configure what flavor of fortran compiler you are using, as it cannot tell from the name of the compiler. For example, if you are using gFortran, then set CPPFLAGS=-gFortran. Other choices are -f2cFortran and -pgiFortran.
