Hi Bjorge,

Try

  FCFLAGS="-fPIC -m64" CFLAGS="-fPIC -m64" CXXFLAGS = "-fPIC -m64" \
    ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/netcdf-3 --enable-shared

after a "make distclean" and let us know if it still doesn't work.
