Can I suggest that you get the 4.0 release? It contains many build system
improvements.

Also, set F77=bgxlf and FC=bgxlf90.

Then try again. (Do a "make distclean" first, to clear out the last attempt to
build.)

If this doesn't work, please send me the complete output of configure and make
check, and the file config.log.
