Your problems are happening because your system is not allowing you to create the scratch files that the nc_test program needs. Are you sure your system is functioning OK? Can you get the daily netCDF snapshot from here: ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/snapshot/netcdf-4-daily.tar.gz And build it in accordance with the instructions here: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/docs_snapshot/netcdf-install.html And please let me know if that works? If it does not, send the *complete* output of configure and make check, and also the config.log file.
