Yes, try the 3.6.2 beta6 release, and it should build no problem with gfortran.

Get it here:

ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-beta.tar.gz

Then build like this:

./configure --prefix=/some/place && make check install
