Because you're using a non-standard shell, you need to translate
standard command syntax into whatever's appropriate for your shell.  In
this case the above command should probably become

    setenv LD_RUN_PATH 3D
    gcc -o blib/arch/auto/NetCDF/NetCDF.so  -G \
        -L/DODS_DISK/DODS/perlmodules/netcdf-3.4/lib \
        -L/usr/local/lib NetCDF.o
