Hi Emory,

No, there have been no recent changes. John Caron has proposed a new
and simpler interface, but it deserves review and has not yet been
implemented. Any announcements or discussion about new facilities for
netCDF for Java would take place on the netcdf-java mailing list;
instructions for subscribing to that mailing list are on the NetCDF
for Java web page at

  http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/java/index.html

I'm CC:ing John on this reply in case he has more to add.
