200000114: corrupt netcdf.tar.Z file

In order to test the integrity netcdf.tar.Z, I FTPed it to my home
machine (thereby going serial dialup link and an ISP) and uncompressed
it using gunzip.  I found no problems with the file.

Is it possible that you did not do your FTPs in binary mode?
