Oops, you caught us between releases.  Although the 3.3a release has
been replaced by a netCDF 3.3beta release available at

    ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-3.3beta.tar.Z

you might be wise to wait a day or two, since we will be announcing the
netCDF 3.3 general release today or tomorrow to the netcdfgroup and
ncdigest mailing lists.
