Hi Jeff,

I tried opening the file in ToolsUI, and ran into probably the same problems 
you saw.  Looking more closely, the data isn't really CF compliant, despite the 
claim in the global attributes.  The groups and structures in particular are a 
problem, and the CDM just isn't going to read it properly.
