Hi Carol,
re:

Did you use IMGPROBE to see what the valid calibration units are
available for the image(s) you are working with?
For instance, I just ran the following for a GOES-16 Channel 13
(IR) image:
IMGPROBE MODE=N DAT=RTGOESR/FDC13 LAT=0 75
Image Name Day Nominal Time Scan Time Band
---------------- ------- ------------ --------- ----
RTGOESR/FDC13.0 5 Dec 18339 22:30:32 22:35:06 13
File Nominal Image RAW RAD
TEMP BRIT
Lat/Lon Line/Element Line/Element * K
-0:00:24 / 75:00:40 2712/ 2711 10849/10845 1953 87.664
288.82 82
* milliwatts/meter**2/steradian/(cm-1)
IMGPROBE: Done
And the following for a GOES-16 Channel 01 (Vis) image:
IMGPROBE MODE=N DAT=RTGOESR/FDC01 LAT=0 75
Image Name Day Nominal Time Scan Time Band
---------------- ------- ------------ --------- ----
RTGOESR/FDC01.0 5 Dec 18339 22:30:32 22:35:06 1
File Nominal Image RAW RAD ALB
BRIT
Lat/Lon Line/Element Line/Element * %
-0:00:24 / 75:00:08 5424/ 5423 10849/10847 47 12.232
1.84 35
* watts/meter**2/steradian/micron
IMGPROBE: Done
re:
> Maybe BRIT is the best choice for visible channels?
BRIT is supported for any/all images supported by McIDAS. The other
units supported by, say, IMGCOPY are the ones that are listed in
IMGPROBE output.
Cheers,
Tom
