I think that the terrain/elevation AREA files that one can download from the SSEC/mcidas site are very good. Are they not sufficient for your needs? As far as knowing about other sources of terrain/elevation/bathimetry files that are readily usable in McIDAS, sorry, I don't have a reference I can give you.
