Hi again Sohail, re: satellite imagery that you want to use in McIDAS-X > The data HDF5 is from FY2E Chinese satellite, and that data is not > available for the public. So FY2G dataset will not contain those images. I just checked the UW/SSEC Data Center website to see what FY2 imagery they have, and it appears that they have FY-2G and FY-2E imagery in their archive: http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/datacenter/archive.html http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/datacenter/unidata_openarc_nongoes.html I decided to check their site since I saw some FY2-E imagery displayed by McIDAS in the UW/SSEC/CIMSS blog site: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/category/fy-2e re: > And they have provided us in HDF5 format. That's the main reason i am a bit > reluctant to go for that. So i think the only option is to convert HDF5 > into some kind of AREA format. :( :( :( It may be the case that you can get the imagery that you need/want in McIDAS AREA format from the SSEC Data Center. This would be _MUCH_ easier than trying to convert the HDF5 imagery you have into a format that is usable in McIDAS. Please remember, that as a Unidata university site, you are allowed to download quite a bit of satellite imagery each month for free from the SSEC Data Center.
