[McIDAS #ZFH-826593]: GOES EAST Ingestor Not Available via ADDE

Hi Fred,

I just wanted to update you on the status of GOES ingest here at
UCAR/Unidata...

Here is the latest:

goeswest.unidata.ucar.edu     GOES-West (currently GOES-11)

In case you haven't read the Unidata eLetter this month or been
following NESDIS' announcements, here is the plan for GOES South American
surveillance:

- NOAA plans to transition GOES-12 out of GOES-East service and into
  dedicated South America service by the beginning of June

- on January 19 GOES-13 will be taken out of on-orbit storage. It will
  begin executing a GOES-East scan schedule by January 25, 2010 while
  being drifted to 75W longitude

- when GOES-13 becomes GOES-East on April 14, GOES-12 will be moved
  to 60W longitude and begin providing South America service by May 11

Our plans are:

- continue to ingest GOES-East/West data for the foreseeable future

- switch ingest on goessouth.unidata.ucar.edu from GOES-14 to GOES-12
  when GOES-13 takes over GOES-East duties and GOES-12 is repurposed
  to South American surveillance

  How long GOES-14 will stay activated is uncertain, but it is likely
  to be put back into storage in January as science checkout comes to
  a close.

To make ADDE dataset names more obvious, I created the group CENTRAL
on goessouth.unidata.ucar.edu.  I am personally using this instead
of SOUTH even though SOUTH is still defined:

CENTRAL/ALL
CENTRAL/CONUS
CENTRAL/NH
CENTRAL/SH
CENTRAL/FD
CENTRAL/OTHER
