Hi James, Sorry I missed your call. Email is better anyway since there is a "paper trail" that can be used for others that might run into similar situations... > During the McIDAS installation I get: > > <snip> > > cc -c -O -I. -I../netcdf/libsrc -I../hdf/hdf/src -I../hdf/mfhdf/libsrc > -I../jpeg -I../libpng -I../zlib -I../tiff/libtiff -I../libgeotiff > -I../jasper/src/libjasper/include -I../g2clib M0hdfeos.c > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 311.55: 1506-197 (S) Expecting header file > name in #include directive. > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 312.10: 1506-197 (S) Expecting header file > name in #include directive. > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 319.27: 1506-334 (S) Identifier int8 has > already been defined on line 618 of "/usr/include/sys/inttypes.h". > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 360.1: 1506-166 (S) Definition of function If > requires parentheses. > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 360.4: 1506-276 (S) Syntax error: possible > missing '{'? > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 372.9: 1506-236 (W) Macro name DF_MT has been > redefined. > "../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h", line 372.9: 1506-358 (I) "DF_MT" is defined on line > 313 of ../hdf/hdf/src/hdfi.h. > compile M0hdfeos.c: FAILED OK. This shows that the HDF package included was never tested for your particular platform. This is an HDF thing, not a McIDAS thing (not that it matters to you :-) Please give me some specifics about: - your machine (make, model, processor type, etc.) - operating system (version) - C compiler (version) so I can do some investigations into (what it might take to) support of HDF4 for your platform. > </snip> > > And the compilation fails. When I attempt to build HDF independently I get > the following: The problem you reported above is definitely in the HDF package, so all bets are off at this point.
