David,

My colleague, Tom Yoksas, pointed out a couple of possibilities:

1. Your O/S could have a problem. We saw this with older version of OS X. What's
your O/S and version?

2. Your network could have an adaptive traffic controller that throttles LDM
connections after a while -- requiring a restart in order to obtain new,
un-throttled connections. Be aware that some network administrators are loath to
admit this.

Regards,
Steve Emmerson
