It would be interesting to see relevant LDM log file entries during the period(s) where feed slowdowns/stoppages occur. Also, have you taken a look at system log file(s) (e.g., /var/log/messages) to see if there are any relevant entries there? And finally (for now, at least), is there any indications of problems being experienced on the Ethernet interface that connects your machine to the Internet? Output of '/sbin/ifconfig -a' might reveal something.
