Without complete error messages from the log, I would just be guessing as
to what the problem might be...

Is there a reason you do not want to install the binary version?

Please see:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/ldm/ldm-5.2.2/index.html

and then on to..

ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/binary/

for the appropriate binary, this may be easier than trying to determine
which library you are missing or the build is getting hung up on.

If it is NECESSARY to build from source, please attach appropriate log
file(s) with the error messages from the attempted build.
