OK.

OK, so your LDM was not running. This would certainly keep you
from having current data :-)

This looks good.

What is missing from this list is an indication that you are, in fact,
receiving products (i.e., the listing is more-or-less blank).

As soon as you start receiving data, it will be safe to say that things
are working. Until then, I would feel happier if I saw products rolling
into aeolus.

I just tried to do a ping to aeolus from a machine at Unidata, but
I got nothing. The ping I tried was to aeolus.valpo.edu which should
be correct.

Since I have a login on papagayo (one of your upstream feed sites), I
decided to login to it and see how things look. The entries in
its LDM log file look OK:

Jul 19 20:14:42 papagayo aeolus[6104]: Connection from aeolus.valpo.edu
Jul 19 20:14:42 papagayo aeolus[6105]: Connection from aeolus.valpo.edu
Jul 19 20:14:42 papagayo aeolus(feed)[6104]: Starting Up: 20020719191130.582
TS_ENDT {{MCIDAS|HDS,  ".*"}}
Jul 19 20:14:42 papagayo aeolus(feed)[6105]: Starting Up: 20020719191130.526
TS_ENDT {{DIFAX|FSL2|IDS|DDPLUS,  ".*"}}
Jul 19 20:14:42 papagayo aeolus(feed)[6104]: topo:  aeolus.valpo.edu MCIDAS|HDS
Jul 19 20:14:42 papagayo aeolus(feed)[6105]: topo:  aeolus.valpo.edu
DIFAX|FSL2|IDS|DDPLUS

A notifyme from papagayo to aeolus did not work:

/home/ldm/logs% notifyme -vxl- -f ANY -o 3600 -h aeolus.valpo.edu
Jul 19 20:30:59 notifyme[9239]: Starting Up: aeolus.valpo.edu:
20020719193059.683 TS_ENDT {{ANY,  ".*"}}
Jul 19 20:30:59 notifyme[9239]: NOTIFYME(aeolus.valpo.edu): 7: Authentication
error; No match for request
^CJul 19 20:31:13 notifyme[9239]: Interrupt
Jul 19 20:31:13 notifyme[9239]: exiting

This probably means that you do not have an allow line in your
~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf file for papagayo.unl.edu. Without this line, it
can not interrogate your LDM to see what you are receiving. The
allow line would look like:

allow   ANY-NLDN        papagayo.unl.edu        # U Nebraska-Lincoln

After making a change to ldmd.conf, you have to stop and start the LDM
to make the change active.
