[IDV #PUT-183810]: unable to open idv in Mac OS X 10.5.8

Greetings Jonathan!

In order to run the IDV, you will need Java 1.6 - check out 
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/3_0b1/docs/userguide/Systems.html#os 
for info on how to upgrade Java on Mac OX 10.5.
