Here is a similar issue dealing with an NVidia driver: http://mailman.unidata.ucar.edu/support/help/MailArchives/idv/msg01110.html Otherwise, I know this is a lame answer, but you can look at this: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Could+not+create+a+graphics+configuration%22 The problem is that this is a difficult issue to debug remotely, but is clearly related to Java 3Ds interaction with the Linux video driver.
