Hi Jess- > My colleague and I were interested in plotting our three dimensional space > weather model data in IDV. The data reads out time latitude, longitude, > altitude, and 45 other variables (like temperature, density, chemical > constiuent density, joule heating, etc etc etc). Would you be able to assist > us by describing how we should format these files (file type, any special > headers, etc) for reading into IDV in order to generate 3-D plots and > animations of this data. The best format would be a netCDF file using CF conventions. Depending on the current format of the data, you have a couple of options: - use the netCDF library to write a program to create the netCDF file. - if you just have ascii text, you might try using the instructions at: http://geon.unavco.org/unavco/IDV_for_GEON_data_access.html This work was done outside of Unidata so we don't support it, but it might help you get started.
