The only netCDF radar format we support is the NCAR sweep file format.
Could you send a copy of your format that we could take a look at?
We are currently working on supporting a variety of radar formats natively
and we could possibly add this to the list.  Is there documentation on
the standard?

When you opened the file, it looks like the IDV is trying to open it
as an XML file for some reason.  I don't think we would support your
format natively, but if you change the data type to netCDF Sweep Files,
I'm sure you'd get a different error message. ;-)
