If you are running the shell script to start the IDV from a terminal window, do you get an OutOfMemory error? Another thing is that for such a large image, it takes a while to render. It might take a minute after the please wait message is gone. >I am using OS X, and Apple is the keeper of all things java on OS X. >i.e. J3D, JAI, I am using version 01.4.2_07 of the SDK > >Video Card - nVidia, GeForce FX 5200 - 64MB > >Texture Performance - up to 16 textures per pass (not sure if that is >what you are referring to ) > >I also just tested it with a larger file and I had to sample even >higher to get it to render. This additional data point lends itself >to the idea that I am exceeding a limitation in the video card. VisAD determines the texture size from the card and then breaks the image up into the appropriate number of textures. So, you shouldn't be exceeding the card limitation.
