>From: Unidata User Support <address@hidden> >Organization: Unidata Program Center/UCAR >Keywords: IDD failover Users of top level IDD relay nodes 'atm' and 'thelma': There are two planned power outages this weekend that may affect your receipt of data through the IDD: atm.geo.nsf.gov: Dominion Virginia Power will be doing some major electrical work on buildings at the NSF/ATM offices this coming Sunday, 10/24. This will require a complete building power shutdown starting Sunday, 10/24 at 12am (midnight) until 12pm (noon). All computer room systems will be unavailable from Saturday, 10/23 at 10 pm until Sunday, 10/24 late-afternoon. The power work being done at NSF/ATM _will_ cause atm.geo.nsf.gov to be shutdown as per this schedule. thelma.ucar.edu: The semi-annual NCAR Mesa Lab power down is scheduled for 10/23/2004 beginning at 0600 hrs to 10/24/2004 at 1730 hrs. Networking will be intermittent during a period on the 23rd. The electrical work being done at the NCAR Mesa Lab is not expected to affect IDD service from thelma.ucar.edu, but with any work of this kind there is a chance that it might. Sites feeding from atm.geo.nsf.gov should switch to their IDD failover(s) before approximately 10 pm EDT on Saturday October 23. Sites that switch from atm to their failover(s) should be able to fail back to atm after midday on Sunday. Sites feeding from thelma.ucar.edu may wish to switch to their IDD failover site(s) even though we are hopeful that IDD service on thelma will not be affected. Sites that switch from thelma to their failover(s) should be able to fail back to thelma on Sunday. Sites that do not have a designated failover or have a failover that will be affected by either of the two power outages can failover to the following machine at the UPC offices in Boulder, Colorado: idd.unidata.ucar.edu Note that idd.unidata.ucar.edu has all non-restricted IDD streams available. We apologize for this inconvenience. Tom Yoksas
