>From: address@hidden >Organization: University of Kansas >Keywords: 200409172031.i8HKVbnJ010293 Hi Donna, >The name of the machine on which the LDM is running is >chinook.atmo.ku.edu OK, thanks. I am unable to ping, ldmping, or do a notifyme to the LDM on this machine. >Yes, the LDM is running, I should have mentioned that we are receiving all >other data that we expect. I was hoping that you were running rtstats so we could see where you were requesting the CRAFT data and do some troubleshooting. Since we are not able to contact your LDM or see rtstats output we are unable to do any probing from this end. So, the questions to you are: - what is the name you are trying to get CRAFT data from - can you do an ldmping of that host: ldmping upstream_feed_host_name - what is the result of doing running notifyme to your upstream host: notifyme -vxl- -f CRAFT -o 3600 -h upstream_feed_host_name >I don't think our system administrator >is running rtstats. I do not really understand why. I think it has >something to do with security concerns. I realize this may not be >a rational concern but my system administrator is a strange dude. You might tell him that your life would be significantly easier if your LDM were reporting real time statistics AND if the fire wall there was setup to allow bidirectional flow on port 388 AND if your ~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf file was setup to allow any machine in the unidata.ucar.edu domain to access your LDM (the default setup sent out in LDM distributions). Without these in place, supports breaks down to a game of questions and answers. This will eventually work, but it is slow and painful.
