Pete, Is this why I haven't received and McIDAS AREA file satellite images, since ~02/04Z? -- James P. Jim, Possibly. I did actually drive in last night to once again reboot sunset, about 06:30 UTC, and built ldm 5.1.2, which has been running since then. I've been getting data including the MCIDAS area files since then, but I do see a lot of failed connect attempts from these two machines.. is one of these yours? Has anyone else had problems feeding downstream sites after upgrading to 5.1.2? I've got several other ldm 5.0.xx machines feeding from sunset here locally with no problems. I thought that they were still going to be transmitted until 15 Sep 00. I haven't updated my ldm-mcidas yet to handle the png files. If my upstream sites do not use the old format files, does that mean downstream sites won't get the data? >From address@hidden Sat Sep 2 18:47:24 2000 >To: Jim Koermer <address@hidden> >cc: David Wojtowicz <address@hidden>, address@hidden, > address@hidden >Subject: Re: Sunset problems Jim, We are still receiving both. If however, your upstream only is requesting the new format from it's upstream, that's all it will have so you'll never see the LWTOA3 format files. It is definitely possible that your upstream is doing just that; I've got one site I'm feeding that is requesting only the pnga2area format: Sep 02 06:56:57 5Q:sunset cirrus[890]: Connection from cirrus.lsc.vsc.edu Sep 02 06:56:57 5Q:sunset cirrus(feed)[890]: Starting Up: 20000902054744.399 TS_ENDT {{MCIDAS, "^pnga2area Q[01]"}} Sep 02 06:56:57 5Q:sunset cirrus(feed)[890]: topo: cirrus.lsc.vsc.edu MCIDAS If you'd like to use UW-Madison AOS (sunset.meteor.wisc.edu) as a feed for old format McIDAS data until Sept 15th you're welcome to. Just let me know what host to add to my allow list. My upstream sites must have stopped requesting the LWTOA3 format files starting last night, since I stopped getting any new data after 02/04Z. I went ahead and put on the new ldm-mcidas and started ingesting the png2area files and now I seem to be getting McIDAS satellite area files once again. Oh well, it's sooner than I planned, but it's done! I have full NOAAPORT data, but the 4km imagery doesn't extend very far from CONUS. For those regions, I have to use 8-km data which doesn't zoom very well. -- James P.
