Subject: Follow-on Power Outage (fwd)
As I told you yesterday, NIU's computer network/Internet connections will
be offline between 6 PM Saturday and 2 PM Sunday, Central time, this
weekend as a UPS is installed. Next weekend, there will be a shorter
power/Internet outage. UNIDATA sites who feed from me may or may not wish
to fail over to another site next weekend as well. See below.

Due to wide spread dissemination of this information you may receive
several notifications - we apologize for the inconvenience.
This is notice of the second power outage in the process of installing
a new battery back-up system for Enterprise resources.
The network core connectivity services and all computing devices that
are located in the "machine room", SP133, will be off-line for a period
of 3 to 4 hours beginning 1800 hours, Saturday, 19 Feb 2000. This is
outage is needed in order to switch back to the newly installed battery
back-up system from by-pass mode. Other than some brief testing windows
of the automatic shutdown software - to be schedule at a later date-
this will conclude the outages required for installation of the UPS
system.
