STATEMENT: NIU Weather outage update (fwd)

Subject: STATEMENT: NIU Weather outage update

We were unsuccessful in doing system maintenance today. I was swamped with
more urgent matters that had to be taken care of, and by the time I had
gotten them all done, my window of opportunity to perform the maintenance
had past. We are now shooting for 1PM-4:30PM on Monday, August 23 when we
will be down for the maintenance.

Monday is when a cold front will be coming through. If a "severe weather
day" is declared, the maintenance will be cancelled and rescheduled.

Sorry for the inconvenience. UNIDATA LDM downstream sites, remain on your
backups until Tuesday. NIU will be having a campus-wide outage as they
install a state-of-the-art networking system here on campus over the
weekend, which will cause frequent Internet outages Saturday evening
through Sunday morning.
