To: Steve and Tom From: Tom Priddy Thanks for the great support and assistance in getting our linux PC system running GEMPAK. We have one dual-processor linux system running everything in the UK Ag. Weather Center...web, NWS weather wire, ldm and gempak and a backup linux PC. Previously, four older sun systems shared running everything at full capacity. Now we have purchased 2 new 800MHz processers ($500) to upgrade the 500MHz system. And in January if prices go down even further I intend to buy 2- oneGHZ processors. Not only is linux very robust but the price of PC parts is very inexpensive. As it stands.... I highly recommend linux. Last week I was ready to transfer gempak back to our sun systems. Again, thanks for all of your timely help and assistance. -- =========================================================================== Tom Priddy, Extension Ag.
