Darrell, Believe it or not, this is shown in the WWW tutorial for sflist at: http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/gempak/tutorial/sflist.html One caveat here is that dset will show all the decoded variables. You can use: sfparm=dset;text;spcl for the surface hourly data (and "text" for MOS files as well) including the coded bulletin and specials if they exist.
