Would you have time to work together with me so that we can provide the NOGAPS / COAMPS data from our LDM to yours. There is also some WW3 data in there. Our LDM is at: usgodae.org Please send me your vitals.. Also, I will need to coordinate with DREN to make sure that they open this up for us. We definitely want to restore the LDM feed of NOGAPS and COAMPS to the Unidata Community. Effective last month, the Naval Research Lab (NRL) Marine Meteorology Division, collocated with us here in Monterey, took over the responsibility for hosting and maintaining the GODAE Server. This effort falls under the direction of Mr. John Cook of NRL, who I have copied on this e-mail. The LDM data feed of NOGAPS and COAMPS died last year with the failure of some legacy Sun hardware as we were in the process of re-hosting the GODAE Server software to IBM hardware and, ultimately, transitioning the Server to NRL ownership. As I understand it, the LDM software is currently working on the Server and capable of transmitting NOGAPS and COAMPS fields to the Unidata Community. However, NRL does not yet have Information Assurance (IA) approval from its Headquarters to activate the LDM feed to the public. John: Please comment further and provide the outlook for restoring the LDM feed of NOGAPS and COAMPS to Unidata users. Thanks. In the early days of this project, we worked with LCDR David Dimitriou, but more recently our contact had been Phil Sharfstein, it seems as if Phil has moved on as well. Also we are aware that there are concerns re hardware and human resources so we again offer to help in any way possible. We can help install and configure the LDM, provide guidance on appropriate hardware, etc. We could also offer up being a distribution node for NOGAPS..i.e. You could feed Unidata, and we would then "fan it out" to our community via our topologies saving you bandwidth and configuration headaches. We could provide you with a list of subscribers to the data feed so you could use that in any evaluation process to see who is getting the NOGAPS data. The Unidata community values the NOGAPS/COAMPS model output and would like to ingest it with the other feeds via the LDM/IDD. I look forward to your response and hopefully we can get the data flowing again.
