Hey Pete,

That was Tiffany that sent you the wgrib2 command, haha.  But yeah, sorry, it  
doesn't look like 
there's any "better" way to do it than what you had already come up with.
Hopefully it does the job though and you can at least still access all your 
data in CAVE?
