Hey Justin,

Could you do one other thing: in the original code you had that you got from 
our obs example,
can you print out:
 print("Using " + str(len(obs)) + " obs records")

I want to be sure the 'getMetarObs()' call is actually returning any data.
Also, could you run h5dump on one of the mesonet files in your hdf5 directory?
